This is a quick note about recent server issues. Over the past ~week our server has been not super stable. This is not the fault of our game server, but rather of our hosting provider. They have been experiencing some instability in the data center.
Due to this, you may have noticed that you cannot always connect to the game (or the forums). We are sorry about this and are working on resolving the issue, but it is mostly out of our control.
We’ll keep you posted on the status. But for now, if you can’t get in to play hopefully you can try again later and have a bit of fun then 🙂
We were going to wait until December to give this gift, but we couldn’t wait and thought you all might appreciate it while you’re home this week. Sorry it’s not an update (quite yet), but it’s still pretty great.
What could a giant 10,000 over a whole bunch of quoins mean?
As you can see, the CoU website has gotten quite a facelift! Our developers Andy, Courtney, and Robert have been working on this for a while and now it’s ready for your beautiful eyes! We tried to make the site more user friendly, so let us know what you think! There will be a few more small changes for the website in the next week or so, but it’s definitely ready to go.
Also, we’ve added a new feature to the website: forums! To post in the forums you will need to register for an account. You can do this by entering your email and creating a username. You can even write up a little bio about yourself to go on your public profile. Then you’re ready to go start posting and replying! Your profile image will be taken from the head of your avatar if you played glitch (similar to the /setname command in the game), so choose your name wisely. For now, these accounts are only tied to the forums, but they will be used for other things in the future (get ready for avatars). We currently have five topics: Announcements & Events, General, Ideas, Bugs, and Off Topic.
A whopping 1360/1369 streets have been filled in by all of you. And in the short span of just two weeks! Truly incredible. Please apply high fives liberally.
There’s many bigger things to come, but in the mean time, we have updated our outdated street-loading screens.
Before Shim Shiri was updated, TS had given it a more ‘appropriate’ name, still used in the reference files.
We’ve also released mystery quoins and Quarazy quoins into the world. Mystery quoins create randomized quoins in the level, where Quarazy quoins give you a huge imagination boost. Huzzah.
So what do we have in store? Our developers (and the ranks are growing!) are working on a diverse set of features now.
So we’re knee-deep into development now. Watch for some teaser images over the next week to see what we’re working on each day.
As always, thanks for being awesome.
We’ve been hard at work recently to bring us all closer to being able to fully explore the world of Ur. I just pushed live a few changes for the client for your to enjoy.
First, I know that as soon as we started having multiple items for you to carry around, people wanted to be able to do something with them to free up space. Well that’s now a possibility:
You can drop items directly from your bags onto the ground and someone else can come along and pick it up if they wish.
